Welcome

Hello Everybody! I am excited about the upcoming school year because I am now going to be running the Bronx Transition Center. We have acquired three new worksites; one that trains students to work as custodians, one that trains students to work in housekeeping and one that shows students how to work in the classroom as teacher's aides. This is in addition to the worksites that we have had for many years. I am very excited about the prospect of working with Mr. Seifman, an expert on transition for many years. I am also very happy to be working closer to Ms. Girardat and Ms. Palma to place students into appropriate worksites. Please feel free to speak with one of us if you have any questions about our worksites or about transition.

The worksites that we had already established are working out very well. When I toured them recently I got the chance to meet the students who are out there and I also met some former students of ours who are still working at these sites but they are now getting paid for their efforts. This year our worksites are going to be more focused on finding employment for our students, whether it's full time or part time.

Looking forward to speaking to everybody on this website and in person.

Frank

It looks like you have a real plan for next year. I am excited about the tranisition sites and work classes too!
Last week two of our students got well-paying steady jobs with benefits starting after 3 months. They told me that during the interview the supervisor at the job asked many questions about their work experience and they were able to talk about what they had done at their worksites. This helped them get the job! Worksite experience and transition classes help students get jobs. Go for it!!
